When you imagine your dream patio, you probably picture beautiful pavers, a firepit, or maybe an outdoor kitchen. What you don’t see is the real hero of that space: the base underneath it.
Most patio failures—like shifting stones, cracks, or sinking corners—aren’t because of the surface materials. They happen because the base was rushed or poorly prepared.
Excavation Matters
At Timesavers Landscaping, every patio project starts with careful excavation. We dig down to remove soft soil, clay pockets, or other unstable layers that could cause problems down the line.

The Right Layers
Once we excavate, we build up the area with proper materials—usually 4–8 inches of compacted crushed stone, followed by a leveling layer of bedding sand. Each layer is compacted professionally to create a rock-solid foundation.

Drainage Is Built In
Good patios don’t just sit there—they shed water naturally. Our team plans slight slopes (usually about 1–2%) so rainwater runs off without pooling or seeping into joints.

The Difference Over Time
A patio with a strong base doesn’t shift every winter. It doesn’t settle unevenly. It stays looking sharp and feeling solid for years longer than those “budget jobs” you see falling apart after one season.

At Timesavers Landscaping, we don’t just build patios—we engineer them to last.
